Replacing Balboa board with a new model -- what about my aux panels?

I have a 2007 Clearwater Resort Cabo Signature Spa.  I believe my spa control board has failed (symptoms and troubleshooting steps taken at https://thespaguyinc.activeboard.com/t68587146/balboa-topside-showing-snb-troubleshooting/ ).  Its board is a Balboa CL2007U EL2M3.  All but impossible to find an exact replacement board, and the few folks who have this charge $800 for it!  Not prudent.

I'm looking at replacement with another Balboa kit.  Looks like a new board will need a new topside panel.  Some work to change that, but OK, I can.  I found a BP7 kit that supports my spa's four pumps plus circ, ozone, and lights.  Only remaining question is auxiliary panels.

My spa has four single-button auxiliary panels -- one in each quadrant of the tub, to control the jets in that area.  Currently the aux panels connect by RJ45 connectors (or something similar looking) to a grey box which connects to accessory port J39 on my main board.  Photo here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/ASReJ5h61NDQNL4s8 .  I see that BP7 boards also have an accessory port that looks the same.  If I simply connect this same grey box to the same accessory port on a new BP7 board, will this automatically work?  Not obvious to me how the main board knows what accessories are connected to an accessory port, or what each button press should do.  If I need to program the main board somehow, I can probably do that so long as instructions are available.  But so much Balboa doesn't tell the public!  Hoping The Spa Guy knows!!
