Help troubleshooting heating hot tub heating problem?
I have a Master Spa CS Nantucket spa purchased new in the Fall 2020
It ran continuously until February 2024 with no issues!
In February 2024, one particularly frigid night the spa went into freeze protection mode with the pump cycling on at full throttle every 15 minutes. I checked the water temp and sure enough the water was very cold. I was happy that the spa was doing its thing as designed. The next morning, I suffered through a cold morning to drain the spa and blow out all of the plumbing.
Fast forward to now. I'm hoping to repair the spa myself. Being overly ambitious, I watched a couple youtube videos and removed the heater (Balboa 4.0KW). Upon inspection, the heating element looks perfect. There is no calcification, etc. The terminals on the tube look pristine having no corrosion and the seals show no evidence of leaking. Using a multimeter to test resistance, I get a 14.5-15.5 ohm range between terminals which I read is normal.
Can I rule out the heating element?
What else can I troubleshoot?
The spa is empty so I'd have to fill it to trouble actual water heating (i think).
